I’m officially graduating from Modeling Pro course in Amber Chia Academy! It was also a privilege to do a catwalk in Fashion Week in 1Utama during the graduation. I’m pretty short in this picture, not wearing those Amber Chia heels as mine was white so I wore my highest black heels still, I’m so short! Doing the promo for the products before the show starts, so we had masks on us. Let’s see if you could pint point which is me. It’s pretty obvious.
About 6 months ago, remembering the first few classes we had. It was so tiring wearing heels! Especially while doing our warm up the first time, we were told to stand on one leg and lift the other while in a 5inch+ heels! Gosh, we were like, are you kidding? We’re struggling to find our balance at first. Our catwalk guru Benjamin Toong said it’s to train the strength and muscles on our legs so we can walk in any heels in future plus strut down the runway with stamina so we had these training before every class starts for the duration of the entire course. Trust me, this practice helps a lot! After a few classes, my legs doesn’t hurt anymore wearing those heels during the entire class for 2 hours plus.
Fast track back, it’s showtime! Did smokey eye make up and did my hair up for the show. My brush skills improved after the few make up classes I had during 1-to-1 sessions with the make up guru in Amber Chia Academy. Most of my sessions ends within 1 hour and the make up guru knew I had some basics so it’s pretty easy to catch up and just got some tips.If you wanted to learn the basic make up of (Day look, Smokey eye, dramatic look/ 1 session on any skills you wish to master on make up they will do their best) this course may be beneficial to you too as you get to learn catwalk & make up too and hair do, simple buns, high pony tails etc.
The amber chia heels in white. They come in 4 basic colours (White, Black, Sliver and Gold). You will get one pair when you enroll however, if you wish to get other colours you will need to get it for yourself at about RM 200 special price for students.

With Amber and my cert! 🙂 It’s indeed a great experience throughout the entire course, I actually won this from the project o&o last year.
Being a model is certainly not an easy journey, it’s not just knowing how to strut on the catwalk, pose in front of cameras but it all reflects from your personality. You require lots of determinations and able to accept failures. It may take a lot of hardwork and other skills such as time management, people and social skills, creative thinking and preparation before go-sees.
What did I learn after the course?
some models basics you need to know (although most of them I’ve learnt from America Next Top Model series over the years – but I get to experience it for real now), while there is also workshops classes on basic tips to take care of your body, style tips, hair tips and etc. I walk better now after catwalk basics, plus with the training for my legs, walking in heels during shopping is not a problem. It’s a modeling course yes, but you don’t have to be a model wanna be to take the course, I believe it’s also good for every girl to take up, as you can perfect your walk and stand tall instead of slouching. Plus, you get tons of knowledge on grooming tips, how-tos, and to build up your confidence.
Will I go into a modeling career? nope. I have other focus and it’s always a dream but I’m not very passionate about it. However, I do freelance modeling sometimes when friends call or from companies I know of they engage me even before enrolling to this course. For fashion brands/labels I blog of I’ve done catwalk during their shows too as invited guest.
